Hotel Monteleone is a French Quarter landmark and an integral part of its history and charm. The hotel was established in 1886 by Antonio Monteleone and has been operated by five generations of Monteleones during the ensuing years.

History of the hotel
For over a century, Hotel Monteleone has played host to numerous celebrities, Pulitzer Prize-winning authors, famous sports figures, Hollywood’s biggest stars and music’s top entertainers, all having their place in the history of this grand hotel.
Hotel Monteleone is one of only three hotels in the United States that has been designated a literary landmark. This designation was given by the Friends of the Library Association.
These hotels have had a plethora of famous writers frequent their establishments, as well as include them in their works. With its wonderful French Quarter location, Hotel Monteleone is the best place to begin experiencing New Orleans. After all, it has been said, “The French Quarter begins in the lobby of Hotel Monteleone.”
